Taxi operators arrested for assault after hitching incident
Four taxi operators were arrested for kidnapping, extortion and assault of a private motor vehicle driver at Nobody, Ga-Mothapo, Limpopo on Tuesday.
According to information, the police members were travelling around the area, when they spotted two Toyota Quantum taxis blocking a maroon SUV.

They immediately stopped their vehicle, and upon intervening, they found that the four taxi operators attacked a 48-year-old man who was driving a maroon SUV.

The victim alleged that the taxi operators accused him of pirating as a taxi. They assaulted him and demanded an amount of R2500 fee before he could be released.
He then opened a case against the four taxi operators aged 30 and 48 years old of Mankweng Taxi Association and they were arrested on the spot.
The suspects will appear before the Mankweng Magistrate’s court soon facing charges of kidnapping, extortion and common assault.
