Stolen Eskom copper cables worth R2 million recovered
A 30-year-old foreign national was arrested after being caught with copper cables and aluminium scrap metal pieces with an estimated value amounting to R2 million along the N1 north, Polokwane on Sunday.
The driver was instructed to stop and permission was also granted to search trailers and a truck. Upon searching 27-ton bags fully loaded with copper cables were discovered.

Eskom personnel were summoned to the scene and managed to identify the copper cable as their property. Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe praised the team for the arrest.

COPPER CABLES BELONGING TO ESKOM RECOVERED IN POLOKWANE
The team comprised Provincial Organised Crime, Protection and Security Services from Gateway Airport, Polokwane SAPS, Local Criminal Record Centre and Eskom. The suspect will appear before the Polokwane Magistrate Court on Tuesday.
