WARD 9 OF THE MAKHADO LOCAL MUNICIPALITY TO HAVE VOTERS REGISTRATION WEEKEND AHEAD OF BY-ELECTION
“Voting stations in the ward will be open this Saturday, 15 February 2025, and Sunday, 16 February 2025, from 08h00 to 17h00 to allow all eligible people to register and for current voters to check their registration details, and to provide or update address details where necessary,” said the IEC in Limpopo.
“The Electoral Commission encourages community members in ward 9 of Makhado Local Municipality to register for voting. It is critical to emphasise that municipal by-elections are fundamental to South Africa’s democracy. Community participation in electoral processes allows eligible voters to be part of the decision making, and elect the councillor who will represent their interests in the municipal council.
“Voters should bring along their identity documents [IDs] – either a green bar-coded ID book, a smartcard ID, or a valid Temporary ID Certificate. They will also need to complete their physical home address on registration or provide sufficient particularities of their place of residence. Documented proof of address [e.g. a municipal account] is not required.”
