Uncle to appear in court for rape of his niece [5] in Mahwelereng
A 43-year-old Uncle has been arrested for raping his 5-year-old niece at Ga-Magongo, Mahwelereng Zone 2 in Limpopo. He is set to appear before Mahwelereng Magistrate’s court on Wednesday, 12 February 2025 facing charges of rape.
It is reported that the mother left her five-year-old daughter with her older daughter and her younger brother [uncle to victim] when going to work. During the day, the sister noticed that the child was quiet, and she went to look for her. She could not find the child.

She then proceeded to the uncle’s room and found the child with the uncle on his bed. She also noticed that the victim was naked and her private parts were swollen. The sister then took the child from the uncle and waited for the mother to knock off. She informed the mother of what had happened when she got home from work.

A MAHWELERENG UNCLE WAS ARRESTED FOR RAPING HIS NIECE
The mother reported the incident to the police and a case of rape was opened and transferred to Mokopane Family Violence and Child Protection Offenses Unit. He was arrested on Monday, 10 February 2025, on charges of rape after the child was taken for medical examination.
Commissioner of Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has strongly denounced the incident. She urged parents and guardians to avoid leaving their kids unsupervised for extended periods of time.
“Parents should not trust anyone with their children, not even a relative,” said General Thembi Hadebe.
“We are very sure the perpetrator of this evil deed will receive his punishment,” the General concluded.
