Limpopo pharmacists demand jobs
A group of unemployed pharmacists staged a protest outside the Limpopo Department of Health on Tuesday demanding jobs.
They say there is a severe understaffing in local clinics and hospitals in Limpopo with regard to pharmacists while the same pharmacists are not unemployed.

The pharmacists completed their community services on 31 December 2024. They say there is a skills gap in public health facilities across the province, but they are ready to work and provide quality healthcare services.
One of the unemployed pharmacists Thapelo Malatji says they want to offer solutions to the Unemployment and the understaffing at clinics and hospitals across the province.
“We have realised that there is a severe understaffing in our hospitals and clinics with regard to pharmacists. But the very same pharmacists are not employed,” Malatji told Limpopo Chronicle.

NO JOBS FOR LIMPOPO PHARMACISTS AFTER COMPLETING THEIR STUDIES
“So we are here to offer a solution to the Department of Health with regard to the understaffing. We have more than energetic pharmacists who are here, who are willing to start tomorrow. We have another problem where we don’t have pharmacists at clinics.
“Deploy us so that we avoid this thing whereby you send someone to the clinic and come back with the wrong medications. They stand in long queues at the clinics because the pharmacists are understaffed. So we are here to solve two issues, to kill two birds with one stone and offer a solution to understaffing and Unemployment,” he added.
The group was meant to have a meeting with some of the officials at the department. Malatji says they won’t get tired of protesting if their plea is not meant.
“We expect a response from the Department as of next Monday. If there is no response, we are more than energetic. We will be back here to ensure that our pleas are taken seriously.”
