Mashabela-Mongatane communities finally get access to water
Nearly 400 households in Pudietśana and Maelwane sections in the Sekhukhune District will now have access to clean drinking water.
The good news comes after Sekhukhune Executive Mayor Minah Bahula visited Ward 10 in Fetakgomo-Tubatse to oversee the repair and monitoring of water boreholes in Mashabela-Mongatane on Wednesday.

“Sekhukhune District Municipality is making significant strides in improving water access. One borehole in Maelwane has been equipped, while another in Pudietśana has been refurbished,” said the municipality.

“The Mayor also identified infrastructure challenges, including aging equipment and the need for new water storage tanks.
“Additionally, findings revealed that local mines may have tampered with water infrastructure during their Social Labour Plan projects. The Mayor plans to engage with the mining sector to ensure better alignment of water programs in the future.”
Meanwhile, Executive Mayor Bahula will celebrate and honour 2024 Matric Top Achievers on Thursday morning. She will join the Mayor of Ephraim Mogale Local Municipality Given Moimana in an event honouring academic excellence. The ceremony will celebrate the 2024 top-performing matric achievers within Ephraim Mogale Local Municipality.
The event which will bring together educational role players, learners, parents, teachers, and various other stakeholders will also serve as a platform to motivate the new entrants, the 2025 matric class to strive for even greater success.
