Muvhavha Secondary School learners taught under trees
Learners from the Muvhavha Secondary School in Tswinga village, Limpopo, are forced to study under trees as the school crumbles due to lack of maintenance.
The school has more than 600 learners and not enough classrooms to accommodate them. It is plagued by challenges such as poor infrastructure, overcrowding, dilapidated classroom furniture, and a severe shortage of adequate resources.

CONCERN AS LEARNERS FROM THE MUVHAVHA SECONDARY SCHOOL ARE TAUGHT UNDER TREES
“The province’s department must prioritise addressing historical challenges in Limpopo’s Education system such as poor school infrastructure, overcrowding and inappropriate sanitation.
“The challenge of billions of rands in school infrastructure backlogs and classroom shortages affects the quality of education our learners receive in Limpopo,” they added.
“The Limpopo Department of Education has failed these learners and educators by not fulfilling its own mandate, which is to provide a conducive environment for learning and teaching.
“The DA believes that no child should have to learn under a tree, and all learners deserve a dignified learning environment.”
