Department issue update on damaged Mothomeng Primary school
Limpopo MEC for education Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya visited Mothomeng Primary School in Mopani to assess storm-damaged classrooms on Tuesday. Mothomeng Primary has an enrolment of 501 learners and was one of the 127 schools that were affected by the storm.
The storm damaged one block and this led to the merging of two classes and as a result, learning and teaching were affected.

Before the intervention, learners had to be released early to go home. The Department of Education responded swiftly by providing four mobile classrooms as a temporary relief. MEC Lerule-Ramakhanya visited the School in the Mopani West Education District to also monitor the learning and teaching for the 2025 academic year.

The department further announced that they will deliver furniture, which will be double combination desks for the four mobile classrooms on Friday.
The School Governing body has applauded the swift intervention and they believe it will go a long way in ensuring that learning and teaching continue without disruptions.
Meanwhile, the class of 2024 in Limpopo achieved an 85.1% pass rate. The Province took position nationally. An improvement from the seventh spot last year.
