Battle for the SAFA Capricorn region heats up
The date for the long-awaited SAFA Capricorn region elections has been confirmed, with current president Jacky Mogashoa and deputy president Thomas Mulaudzi going head-to-head. The last elections in the region were in 2020 when both Mogashoa and Mulaudzi were elected into office.
But the Region has been embroiled in a leadership tussle for a while, with some LFAs and clubs calling for Mogashoa to step down.

Some Regional Executive Committee Members who are now Mogashoa’s biggest rivals, including VP Mulaudzi and Secretary Mosotho Malesela, were suspended at some point, till SAFA Membership intervened.
In August 2023, local clubs in the region also organised a march to demand the removal of Mogashoa. Mogashoa is accused among other things of mismanaging funds and poor administration, holding back development in the region.
