Poacher killed by a Hippo at Kruger National Park
A suspected poacher was attacked by a hippo and succumbed to injuries after entering the Kruger National Park illegally with his two accomplices on Sunday night.
According to initial unconfirmed reports, it seems three individuals entered the park illegally at night to commit a crime.

During the night they were attacked by a hippo and one suspect sustained fatal injuries. The other two are suspected to have carried the body of their colleague to a nearby road where they left it.

The body was spotted by a tourist this morning, who covered it and reported to the Section Ranger who then responded immediately by calling the relevant law enforcement authorities and the pathologists after securing the scene. The South African Police Service [SAPS] is investigating the matter.
“Management appeals to whoever took pictures of the body, not to share them on any platform as it will be insensitive and might jeopardise further investigations,” said the South African National Parks.
“Management also again warns people who enter the Kruger National Park illegally, that they face many dangers from wild animals as well as arrest from rangers and security staff.”
