Premier Ramathuba conduct visit at flood-stricken Municipality
Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba on Wednesday conducted a site visit to assess the damage caused by the recent floods in the Waterberg District.
The premier was accompanied by key officials including MEC for Public Works, Roads, and Infrastructure Ernest Rachoene, Executive Mayor of Waterberg District Jack Maeko, and local Mayor Modimolle-Mookgophong Sechele Sibulai.

They visited specific areas that were severely impacted, including Ward 12: Chris Hani Street, where a bridge was washed away, and Ward 8: Phomolong, where a road was destroyed.
“We have received numerous messages through social media, WhatsApp and direct calls detailing the devastation caused by the floods in all districts,” said Dr Ramathuba.

“Our response must prioritise the residents’ needs as we assess the situation and implement necessary measures.
“This visit underscores the government’s commitment to addressing the aftermath of the floods and finding solutions to rebuild and restore the affected communities.”
Recent reports indicate significant flooding in towns and villages across the municipality. This has resulted in damaged infrastructure and disrupted daily activities.
The Executive Council also convened prior to the visit to discuss strategies aimed at alleviating the disaster’s impact and ensuring the safety and well-being of residents.
